World’s Largest Wind Farm
Thursday, September 23rd, 2010The world’s largest wind farm opens today off the coast of Kent. Yolanda and I followed the various news articles and learned that enough power would be generated for 200,000 homes.
Now to me that’s a big figure, but then I did a little research and realised there are more than 20 million homes in the UK, so it really is a drop in the ocean, this wind farm in the sea.
This made me think about the amount of energy I use and what more I could do to save energy. One of the more surprising tips I came across was that a modern laptop computer uses around 85% less energy than a desktop computer.
I made that switch, so I’m off to a good start. I always make sure I unplug my laptop when I’m not using it, I put it on standby if I’m just away briefly and need to come back as it takes no time at all to pop up all my work again, but more recently, I’ve been concentrating on trying to finish everything off that I need to do, so I can shut down, chill out and escape from cyberspace once in a while.
p.s.
I’ve been looking in to ways of producing my own energy. Yolanda says I should have my own wind farm, but I have to say I’m not sure she isn’t just being rude about my bodily habits.

McDonald’s is good at branding, very good. The Golden Arches are recognised around the world. But another result of being good at branding is that their rubbish is instantly recognisable too. You can tell there’s a McDonalds nearby not just from the big M that you will see illuminated from a distance, but sadly also, from the trail of litter proudly bearing the brand name.

The crafty cat has been a bit cagey about her panto role and it was all a big secret. She wanted to keep us guessing. I have to admit, I thought I had it in the bag. I was expecting Puss in Boots.
Oh dear! I’m being nagged to go on a diet. Yolanda thinks I’ve put on weight. But in my defence, I have to say, it is all in a good cause.
